Digital Marketing Executive

Affinity apps have quickly become some of the most well respected professional creative apps available, winning multiple awards including an Apple Design Award and App of the Year, as well as thousands of 5-star customer reviews from around the world.

Due to continued success, we’re now looking for an exceptional Digital Marketing Executive to join our growing team. This is a new role and whilst the key focus is on digital marketing, there is also an element of responsibility for event management.

The Digital Marketing Executive will be responsible for supporting the Marketing Team in the planning and delivery of digital marketing communications for Serif’s suite of software (Affinity Designer, Affinity Photo, Affinity Publisher).

Working with other teams internally, the Digital Marketing Executive will also help support the planning and activity across a range of existing events covering B2C plus develop B2B events based on industry and sector and help develop Affinity’s own events.



  • Provide support to the Marketing Analyst and Email Marketing Coordinator in a wide range of digital marketing activities including planning, development, delivery, tracking, analysis and reporting
  • Have responsibility for digital marketing activity across a wide range of channels and platforms and ensure e-mail marketing is sent out accurately, to plan on time and all activity complies with brand guidelines and are styled consistently
  • Work with the Marketing team to increase Affinity’s exposure on all App Stores and identify opportunities for in app adverts
  • Create digital marketing assets to incorporate copy and images from relevant teams/departments
  • Manage, analyse and report on Google Analytics
  • Collaborate with the Marketing team to develop complex digital funnels and bring analytical/data to life and enhance all aspects of digital marketing
  • Support the team with data analysis including compliance, maximising opt ins through all relevant channels, whilst adhering to GDPR and permissions
  • Provide customer and audience segmentation, profile and insights (B2C and B2B) including enhanced digital marketing targeting and UX and Customer Journey on/offsite
  • Work with the wider marketing team to identify, develop and deliver social media/marketing to increase (positive) customer reviews across App Stores, Affinity social media and website
  • Assess, develop and improve the performance of digital marketing through testing, proposing and making changes to digital marketing sequence, including development of remarketing, as and when required to accommodate test results
  • Monitor all channels/activity performance in line with KPIs and targets and take responsibility for weekly/monthly accurate reporting


An element of the role is to work with various departments (including the Marketing and Sales Teams) to help develop and deliver increased awareness and understanding of our apps, engagement, leads and tangible sales at both B2C and B2B/Education events.

The scope of this element of the role is broad, although as a starting point however you will be expected to (working with the Marketing Director and wider team):

  • Establish what Affinity key events looks like in a blended and/or digital-only environment, conceptualising the event end-to-end and planning every stage of delivery for 2022+
  • Help with the development and delivery of Affinity’s events plan
  • Take a strategic and tactical approach to developing, planning, promoting and implementing Affinity events including existing and new sector/audience/regional events and developing our own events (with focus on B2B/Education potentially based out of Serif’s office in Nottingham and potentially replicating in key UK locations/venues e.g. London)
  • Continuously evaluate and review the impact and effectiveness of all events and identify opportunities for increased exposure, including speaker/sponsorship opportunities for example
  • Plan and deliver innovative new methods of event delivery, including virtual/digital, that will widen the breadth of customers and organisations that use events as a way of sourcing Affinity apps, including considering all elements of the marketing mix, e.g. videos, podcasts, social media and online tools
  • Professionally and effectively represent Affinity/Serif at events and promote the profile and positive image of Affinity/Serif with partners, clients and other key stakeholders
  • Set KPIs for all events and work to meet clear business-driven targets, specified in advance. Take ownership of reporting on events including on KPIs and budgets
  • Involvement with budget management of events and ensure that profits can be maximised where possible and that sponsorship and financial efficiency opportunities are fully considered
  • Track, analyse and report on performance and success of events, including lead generation, engagements, sales and ROI


  • Minimum grade C in Maths and English GCSE plus A-Level standard required and degree level preferred, and/or relevant Marketing/Business/IT related qualifications would be beneficial
  • Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in an online marketing role is essential
  • Knowledge and experience of digital and wider marketing including events (in person and virtual) is essential across a range of channels incorporating display/lead generation, across both B2C and B2B
  • Experience of digital marketing including website development, event development and delivery
  • Experience of developing, delivering, tracking and analysis of effective multi-channel digital communications across a number of paid digital platforms and delivering tangible results against KPIs
  • Involvement in using, analysing, reporting and maximising insights from Google Analytics to inform strategic web developments and a good knowledge of SEO/SEM and PPC, HTML and CSS
  • Practical experience of developing and delivering digital marketing campaigns including email currently via Mail Chimp and events
  • Experience with and understanding of data including compliance/GDPR, permissions and data insights, profile and segmentation development
  • Experience of managing relationships with external agencies/contractors, e.g. digital marketing, web agency and design agencies and event agencies and suppliers
  • Ability to write high quality platform-suitable content that is engaging, informative and interesting
  • Experience of using content management systems, image manipulation software, video editing software, email marketing systems, Google Analytics and wider optimisation tools, social scheduling tools, and other digital marketing tools would be advantageous
  • Ability to develop and deliver, track and report across a wide range of digital marketing inc. although not limited to PPC, Display, Paid Social Media (working with wider team)
  • Understanding and insights from commercials and financial performance
  • Confidence when communicating with people on all levels; face-to-face, calls and video calls
  • Solid and proven Excel and analytical skills, including development reporting, incorporating Pivot Tables and other tools
  • Degree of basic SQL skills would be an advantage
  • Sound organisational skills
